On Saturday, October 21, 2017 the YMSL Alamo Chapter joined up with the newly formed Mission Chapter in San Antonio, Texas to transform the exterior grounds of housing provided by Mission Road Ministries.  The intent was the make the area more accessible for ViaTrans bus services to turn around in the driveway, prevent further soil erosion by creating a terraced landscape along one building, assist in moving & shredding hundreds of limbs cut from the property, plant several flats of plants, distribute 4 pallets of mulch and spread decorative rock.  They worked a total of 297 combined hours with 90 boys & moms. They also contributed $1100 in Lowe's gift cards to the group in advance to allow purchase of all needed materials.  What an Ultimate Gift!

YMSL Pacesetter Chapter (Flower Mound, TX) completed their Ultimate Gift project 9/30-10/1.  The chapter worked with Denton County Friends of the Family to transform their new thrift store location so it would be “store ready.”  DCCFOF is an organization that helps “move families from crisis to confidence by providing services to those impacted by rape, sexual abuse & domestic violence, while partnering with the community to promote safety, healing & prevention.  DCFOF Thrift Store generates significant funds each year to drive their organization and efforts.  DCFOF’s “old” store location was challenged due to its small and crowded space (in addition to the landlord increasing rent +25%).  YMSL Pacesetter was excited to work with DCFOF on the store project which entailed painting the new store in addition to designing, building, staining & installing beautiful “mixed material” shelves.  Work occurred over two weekends:  1st wkd chapter members shopped for necessities and built/prepared all shelving materials.  The following weekend (9/30-10/1) consisted of painting, shelf finalizations & installation.  The finished project sure looks terrific!  We’re eager to see the store when it’s stocked and open for business – should be very soon!

Eden Prairie Chapter Spiffs Up Camp

Wed, 10/18/2017 - 13:39 -- Heidi Holguin

Eden Prairie Chapter has completed a three weekend Ultimate Gift project for local camp serving clients and families with special needs. They had groups of various sizes working from 1-4 on Sat/Sun of each weekend, with only one rain day. Parts of the camp are on the historical registry as the camp started in the early 1909's as a Tuberculosis medical camp. We fixed a drainage pipe for the gravel road and made the area around the historical entrance to the camp into a garden and useful sitting area with new landscaping and benches for the campers.

The Historical Society will clean the Rock and provide a new sign for the area.

Integrity Chapter worked a 2 week epic Ultimate Gift in their chapter's fight to help end Food Insecurity for Youth in North Texas.  Their Gift was multi-pronged including the following pieces:  Food Insecurity/NTFB Child Program training at both mom's meeting and boy's meetings, Personal Food Drive Plans for each Mother/Son team in chapter, weekend community Food Drives at Walmart on October 7th and 8th and a full chapter warehouse work day on October 14th.  Their cumulative food drives as reported by the North Texas Food bank generated 4153 meals for families in North Texas -incredible!  Their chapter did 582 hours of service towards our Ultimate Gift.  Equally as important as the numbers and the philanthropic results was the increased awareness, personal impact and commitment created within their chapter toward North Texas Food Bank and the crisis of Food Insecurity in our community today and in the communities to assist in our futures
