What is in a name?   Uniqueness!

We are all proud to be being part of Young Men’s Service League, but each and every chapter brings something special and unique to the organization. We want you to celebrate your uniqueness and use your name, your whole name whenever our name is in print. Now is a good time to take inventory and be sure that anywhere your name appears in print, it includes your chapter name. Check your checking accounts, many only list, YMSL. Your legal name is “Young Men’s Service League ________Chapter.” Be sure the reports you send to national have your name on them. Once a report leaves the e-mail it was sent in, it sometimes looses it’s identity. In several cities, we have several chapters serving the area; not using your chapter name is confusing to the philanthropies and to vendors. And one last thing, it would be super nice if when you correspond with each other and especially with National you include your chapter’s name with your signature.  We are growing and it is hard to recognize all 2,700 of you but we try.

Seems like this would be a good time to remind everyone that we operate on a voucher system.  That means the Treasurer should not write any check without a voucher. In our organization this is called a “Check request, or reimbursement request.” This request form should be placed on the website where it is accessible to all members. The request should be filled out by the person requesting reimbursement and signed by the Committee Chairperson or the board member to which the member reports to on the organizational chart. Receipts must be attached to the request.

In States where we have obtained an exemption from State Sales tax, sales tax is not refundable. The form (in Texas,) Letter (in Nevada,) should be placed on the website where it is accessible to all members as well. Request for reimbursement should be made within a reasonable time or by the number of days specified by your chapter’s standing rules. Hopefully being aware of the procedures will make getting reimbursed a smooth process for every
