After her YMSL son graduated, she wanted to continue working with YMSL and joined the National Board.

She served as the Hours Chair her first year as a member and then joined the Chapter Board the following year.  In addition to those roles Terri also held the positions of Southlake Chapter Vice President and Southlake Chapter Parliamentarian.

Terri joined YMSL because she enjoyed the opportunity to spend time with her son while serving her community. High school years can be so busy. YMSL afforded Terri with special time to spend with her son while positively impacting the lives of others. Serving on the National Board allows her to give back to an organization which has given her family so much.

Terri grew up at the Jersey Shore, and received her BA in English and French from the College of the Holy Cross. She also earned her JD from the University of Maryland. Terri and her husband, John, moved to Southlake, Texas in 1993 with their daughter Katie. Their son Reed was born five months later! She resigned to be a stay-at-home mom and homeschooled for several of those years. She and her husband have four children who reside from the west to the east coast. It’s a good thing she enjoys traveling!

Brenda joined YMSL with her youngest son as a founding board member of the McKinney Chapter serving as VP Philanthropy and VP Parliamentarian. Her passion for YMSL began as an opportunity to put good intentions into action, spend quality time with her teenage son, and impart to him a desire to serve others. Working with children is a primary focus for Brenda; she served as the Philanthropy Liaison for the YMSL McKinney Study Buddy program for four years tutoring weekly. After her YMSL son graduated, she wanted to continue working with YMSL and joined the National Board.

It was important to Susie for her boys to be concerned for the well-being of people in need and to be comfortable serving as a volunteer. She also hoped to instil in them a lifelong desire to serve others. It was this desire that led Susie to be part of a group of ladies who started the YMSL chapter in Allen, Texas when their sons were freshmen. She served as the Allen Chapter Founding President from 2006-2009.

Susie currently lives in Allen with her husband of 30 years. She has three kids; two in college and one in high school. She is an active member of the YMSL Allen chapter with her youngest son, and also has a side business making T-Shirt Memory Quilts. When Susie has free time she enjoys documenting memories through scrapbooking.
